The Most Popular Pride Events in the World

Look, despite popular beliefs-Pride isn’t just a party (or a way to boost corporate bottom line with false allyship) — it’s protest, celebration, community, and survival wrapped in glitter and liberation. And across the globe, these iconic Pride events have become must-do moments for me and many LGBTQ+ folks everywhere.
Here are a few I’ve experienced and loved:
1. São Paulo Pride (Brazil) – The biggest Pride parade in the world, hands down. The energy? Unreal. You feel the resistance, the joy, and the sheer scale of queer love in one massive celebration. Plus, hello- the brazilian people are beautiful.
2. Madrid Pride (Spain) – A full-on takeover of the city. Every plaza turns into a queer dancefloor. Plus, the Spanish heat and hospitality? Chef’s kiss. You can tell it's for the people and still holds part of that rebellious spirit (in all the best ways).
3. NYC Pride (USA) – The motherland. The history, the vibe, the nightlife — if you know, you know.
Other Pride events I went to worth checking out!
Miami Pride (USA)
Fort Lauderdale Pride (USA)
Puerto Rico Pride (USA)
Chicago Pride (USA)
San Diego Pride (USA)
Los Angeles Pride (USA)
San Jose Pride (Costa Rica)
Ottawa Pride (Canada)
Toronto Pride (Canada)
Honorable mentions for LGBTQ+ events which aren't technically Pride wekeends, but they might as well be I've attended:
Frolic Weekend (San Francisco)
Market Days (Chicago)
Winter Party (Palm Springs)
White Party (Miami)
Folsom Street Fair (San Francisco)
Southern Decadence (New Orleans)
Barcelona Circuit (Barcelona)
La Demance (Brussels)
Tips for First-Timers:
Hydrate. Glitter doesn’t look cute when you’re dehydrated.
Don’t over-plan — leave room for spontaneity.
Travel with a crew, or don’t. Pride is magical solo too.
Respect local customs, even when partying.
